Temporary Sustainability Project Officer – United Nations Global Compact

Are you proactive, curious and interested in sustainability within the agricultural and food sector? Do you enjoy researching complex topics and translating your findings into practical recommendations? Then this Sustainability Project at the Cefetra group could be a great opportunity for you.

Who we are
The Cefetra Group consists of various agricultural and food ingredients trading and supply chain management companies, with leading brands within the ingredients business. Collectively we employ over 700+ people across 35 offices in 20 countries around the world. We work closely together to guarantee the best possible service to our customers. We develop supply chains with suppliers and create value by sourcing raw materials and supplying those to the international food and feed industry. Check out our corporate movie here.

The role
The Cefetra Group is exploring what participation in the United Nations Global Compact could mean for the organisation and its entities. The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitment to implement universal sustainability principles and support broader UN goals. In this temporary project role, you will help investigate what is required, what the expected costs are, and what value participation could bring to Cefetra Group and its entities. This includes benchmarking competitors and relevant stakeholders, preparing an implementation proposal and, after approval, supporting the implementation itself. Your responsibilities will be:

  • Research the requirements, commitments and practical implications of joining the UN Global Compact;

  • Map the expected costs, benefits and organisational impact for Cefetra and its entities;

  • Benchmark competitors, customers and other relevant stakeholders in the agricultural and food sector;

  • Translate research findings into a clear implementation proposal for internal decision-making;

  • After approval, support the first steps of the implementation process and help coordinate follow-up actions.

Who are you
You are someone who takes ownership, asks the right questions and enjoys working independently on a clearly defined project. You have an affinity with sustainability and ideally understand, or are eager to learn about, the agricultural and food sector. You are comfortable researching information, structuring findings and presenting practical recommendations in a clear way. Ideally, you bring the following:

  • Affinity with sustainability, ESG and the agricultural or food sector;

  • A proactive, independent and eager-to-learn way of working;

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to turn information into practical conclusions;

  • Good digital skills and confidence working with online sources, documents, presentations and spreadsheets;

  • Strong written and spoken English; Dutch is a plus;

  • Able to communicate clearly with different internal stakeholders;

  • Available for a temporary project of approximately two to three months.

Our offer
You will join an international organisation where sustainability, supply chain responsibility and practical business impact come together. This temporary project gives you the opportunity to contribute to a relevant strategic topic and to work closely with colleagues across Cefetra and its entities. We are always open to discussing your individual preferences, but we offer the following:

  • A temporary project role with clear scope, ownership and visibility within the organisation;

  • The chance to work on a sustainability project connected to international standards and responsible business practices;

  • Exposure to the agricultural and food supply chain sector in an international business environment;

  • A practical learning experience where your research and recommendations can directly support decision-making.
