Cefetra Premium Oils was founded in 2023. Peter Bos soon joined the company as senior trader. Now, besides trading, he also manages the growing team at Cefetra Premium Oils BV. ‘We are a start-up that gets all the necessary support to make it happen’
‘My background is in logistics. After my studies, I became a logistics coordinator at another trading company. I discovered that trading appealed to me and was able to develop myself into a trader.
‘After ten years I was ready for something new. I joined another company as a business development manager, where I gained knowledge in the feed and pet food industry. Although the company was very nice, I missed the trading business of plant-based oils. I was contacted by a former manager of mine who was working on the plan for Cefetra Premium Oils. He asked if I was interested in joining. I did wonder: isn’t this organization too big, too corporate for me? I decided to join and found out this was not the case at all’.

‘Because of the decentralized structure, you have a lot of ownership and influence in the entity where you work. Then there is the Group Approach in which the different entities in the group work together to optimize potential synergies. I think that’s a remarkable trait for such an international company. If you see an opportunity, you can start working on it. You are not slowed down by too many internal barriers’
‘We trade vegetable oils for food and nutrition, food supplements and pet food. These raw materials are essential in our daily lives. We obtained the necessary certificates after an extensive audit procedure, and we’ve set up a quality system to guarantee our product quality and traceability. These steps were serious milestones. Now the next phase of the growth begins. It’s challenging in a market as dynamic as ours, but it’s coming along well. The first big orders are a highlight too.’
‘Above all, I am proud of the team we’ve built. There are now twelve of us, including those who work in the US. We trust each other, we can count on each other, and we are ready to grow together. On to more milestones, I’d say.’
‘It’s good to be assertive, to speak out what you stand for. This is a safe environment where you can do that. There is plenty of room for initiative. Anything is possible if you come up with a good idea. The same goes in terms of learning and development. The company is interested in what you’d like to learn, what you’d like to achieve.
